Winter Village Bluegrass & Beyond is presenting three acoustic music listening and learning events in Ithaca, New York this coming Fall 2015 and Winter 2016. Our flagship event, the Winter Village Bluegrass Festival, will be held on January 29-31 at La Tourelle and at two downtown Ithaca events on Saturday – the Saturday Night Big Show at the Hangar Theatre, and a Saturday afternoon Pairings Performance with Wine & Craft Beer Pairings at Coltivare.
Two weeks earlier, on January 15 – 17 the Falling Waters Music Camp is a string camp taught by national and Ithaca performer-teachers in a variety of musical styles and levels. Falling Waters features a very popular Saturday evening faculty concert in the intimate La Tourelle concert space.
Our newest musical event is ithaca Violin ImprovExperience Weekend to be held at Ithaca College and Cornell University on October 23 – 25, 2015. This event features the great jazz and classical violinist Sara Caswell and fine eclectic fiddler Duncan Wickel, along with Cornell violin professor Ariana Kim, Ithaca College violin professor Susan Waterbury, and IC grad and fine young fiddler Joe D’Esposito. They will teach classical violinists the art and theory of improvisation and fiddlers to play with improved technique, tone, and timing and to dig deeper into improvisation.
Join us this fall and winter for one or more of these great musical events.
