Welcome to the 3rd annual Winter Village Bluegrass Festival. We hope that you will have a relaxing and inspiring weekend music experience. Winter bluegrass festivals provide musicians and music lovers the opportunity to hear great music, jam with friends, and learn new tunes, while enjoying the warmth and comfort of an indoor venue.

This year, WVBF is focusing on national bands from the Northeast.   Despite bluegrass music’s southern roots, the northeast is becoming a creative center for new bluegrass and acoustic bands and we have some of the best coming to Winter Village this year.  The Gibson Brothers, from the northern Adirondacks, are returning for a full day of workshops and performances, with some new bluegrass bling in tow – they were just voted IBMA’s Entertainers of the Year,  prize of IBMA’s award show.    Della Mae, nominated for 2012 IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year, is a great Boston-based and all-female band.  They will perform and lead workshops on Saturday.   Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, another 2012 Emerging Artist nominee from the DC area, will join Della Mae on Saturday for workshops and performances.  And we are very excited about the return to Ithaca of former Ithacan Chris Stuart & Janet Beazley, with Fiddler John Mailander for a full weekend of performances and workshops.  Local favorites Cornerstone will join Chris for a few reunion tunes and Paris Texas featuring Bobby Henrie will perform with many guest artists.

WVBF 2013 Performer Videos and Songs

One of my favorite Gibson Brothers original songs about the Adirondacks is called Railroad LineClick here to see a video of recent live version here.  Great writing, singing and playing.  See them win this year’s biggest IBMA award, Entertainer of the Year, at the 2012 awards show.  Here they are performing another original song at the IBMA Awards show - They Called It Music.

Della Mae  performing at Grey Fox this summer.  This first instrumental is a Bill Monroe classic called The Road to Columbus and features National Fiddle Champion Kimber Ludiker.   Here they are on the main stage at Grey Fox last summer performing Jamie Dear.

Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen and Della Mae were both nominated for Emerging Artists of the Year at IBMA 2012 Awards Ceremony.  Here is Frank and the boys playing their interpretation of  The Letter at the IBMA awards show this year.  Frank is a very good chef and is looking forward to checking out Ithaca’s great local foods scene.  Check out this  sampling of his music and videos from the Dirty Kitchen web site.
