This year’s roster of Winter Village fiddlers is our best yet.  Jason Carter, fidder for the Travelin’ McCoury’s and the Del McCoury Band for past twenty years, is the 2014 IBMA Fiddler of the Year and the consummate bluegrass fiddler.  Brittany Haas started performing with Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings at the age of 14 and was the fiddler for the seminal chamber-grass band Crooked Still.  She studied studied evolutionary biology at Princeton University (and minoring in music performance, composing with professor Dan Trueman) and performs in many different musical genres and configurations.  Darol Anger was the first fiddler in the David Grisman Quintet and founded the groundbreaking Turtle Island String Quartet, along with the Republic of Strings and now, Mr. Sun.  His innovative improvisation, amazing rythym fiddling, and sense of adventure is unparalleled in contemporary acoustic music.
